X-900 PLUS PLATFORM TELECOMMUNICATION TESTER

X-Pertise, X-Perience, X-Cellence in Telecomms QA Automation...

The X-900 provides a common software and hardware architecture for a comprehensive range of production test sets designed to meet the needs of telecommunications equipment manufacturers.

This architecture comprises a common set of modules and interfaces that can be reconfigured, thus making it possible to continuously develop and upgrade the test set as and when the manufacturing mix changes.

Test routines and functions for new products as well as test criteria for different PTT network standards can simply be downloaded into the test set from a host PC.

Systems Integration

The Plus+ Platform interoperates with existing QA management and production control systems via XTest which is a suite of software products developed by Electron Parametrics to provide seamless integration between the test processes and the quality assurance environment.

Incorporation of EP Range of Tester Functions

The current Electron Parametrics range of production test sets developed using the Plus Platform architecture are known as the X-900 range and incorporate all the functions of the renowned EPL product range, i.e. EP2900, EP4900 and EP6900. The many functions are provided through a variety of interchangeable internal modules and software packages, making it possible to achieve all likely permutations of functionality without replacing the basic test set.

Configuration Management

Our approach to test set design allows an almost infinite degree of flexibility in all the major aspects of operation, with the ability to:

  1. Change product type e.g. facsimile machine, modem, telephone with a single test set.
  2. Provide testing for different international networks e.g. UK, USA, Germany etc. using a software switch.
  3. Interconnect to productivity tools e.g. X-Batch.
  4. Interoperate to existing production and quality process systems via XTest

This normally requires a level of system integration work to provide a seamless solution.

Special Developments and Support

We have developed an extensive library of programs that covers most of our clients' requirements.

When new developments are needed to deliver the required functions, these can generally be accommodated within the Plus+ Platform system. Such functions can be rapidly developed off-line at Electron Parametrics and then downloaded into the test set when required, either locally or over a modem link.

We provide extensive application support and back-up for all its clients on a worldwide basis.

What about the future?

Plus+ Platform's architecture includes the ability to extend the range of options to include the testing of new products for ISDN and cordless etc. as and when these requirements arise.

Regulatory requirements are continuously changing , as are the needs for quality control and its management. Electron Parametrics maintains an engineering team dedicated to the continuous development of all aspects of its products, thereby providing its clients with a long-term solution to their testing needs.

The X-900 range of test sets represents the state of the art in production test sets for telecommunications manufacturers. The wide range of test functions, integration with existing manufacturing systems and the considerable experience of Electron Parametrics in the area of regulatory approvals makes X-900 the low-risk choice.

The ability to include special functions and continuous product development provide both a future-proof technology route map and low cost of ownership.

Cross References between BABT Document 340 and the X-900's repertoire of tests

In the table below we have described the relationship between tests called up in BABT Document 340 (Issue 6) and the relevant tests provided by the X-900

Please note that this table covers the tests for modem/facsimile products. If you require details for another class of terminal equipment please contact our Sales department.

BABT 340 Test X-900 Test Comments
2 - Wiring Wiring BABT 340 does not explicitly call up this test. The X-900 can explicitly make this test if a telephone socket is available on the product under test.
3 - Off-Line current Leakage
4 - Insulation Resistance Insulation Required for products with earth connections
5 - Seize and Clear DC-Characteristic, Dial-Init-DT, Dial-Init+DT These tests provide a comprehensive evaluation of the products call setup and cleardown features. It is possible to propose fewer tests amd still satisfy BABT
8 - Ring Indicators Auto-answer
9 - Loop-disconnect dialling Pulse
10 - DTMF dialling DTMF
16 - Mean power to PSTN or private circuit Amplitude or Auto-answer The Auto-answer test measures the power level of the answer tone and the data carrier signal when set to its most comprehensive operating mode
